Carlos moved from Colombia, South America to Ocala, FL in 1982 to expand his family’s Paso Fino breeding program in the United States. A 3rd generation horseman, Carlos completed his education with a degree in International Business from Lenoir Rhyne College, North Carolina on a soccer scholarship before moving to Houston, TX area, eventually returning home to Ocala in 2006. A top US trainer, International Clinician and Judge, with numerous Professional, Amateur and Youth National and Grand National Championships to his credit, Carlos was the Paso Fino Horse Association Trainer of the Year in 2007 and in 2008 took the reins as General Manager of the prestigious Besilu Collection (Paso Fino) and Besilu Stables (Thoroughbred Racing). Here he had opportunity to work at the top levels of the sport, having overseen the purchase of Royal Delta (G I, multi Eclipse Champion) and her 2012 racing career including her first Dubai World Cup attempt, the purchases of Graded Stakes Winners Crown Queen (G I) and Tapicat (G III), as well as managing the bloodstock program that produced Gun Runner (G I, 2017 Horse of the Year), Dubai Sky (G III), Delightful Joy (G III) and several other stakes winners in addition to World Champion and National Champion Paso Fino horses.
Carlos’ love of real estate was birthed while at Besilu, managing their property holdings which included a 600-acre farm and multibreed training facility, in North Micanopy and a 120-acre South Ocala location at Country Club of Ocala. Some of these holdings included residential development, commercial development as well as aviation property holdings, luxury construction, and ongoing renovations and property improvements. He obtained his real estate license in late 2013 and has soared in his new career from Marion County and Keller Williams Rookie of the Year in 2014 to a Top Producing Individual Agent, with over $14 million in closed sales volume in 2020, including commercial, luxury, equine/farm and residential transactions. His calm and kind demeanor and thorough communication and negotiation skills have made him well-liked amongst city employees, mortgage, legal, insurance, construction, and title professionals as well as fellow realtors. These skills and relationships have enabled him to best serve his clients, whether he represents buyers, sellers or both parties. He has been with Keller Williams Real Estate for over 7 years as a top individual producer and a member of the ALC (Agent Leadership Counsel) at the brokerage in Marion County.
Carlos is fully bilingual English/Spanish, and, married to an Army Veteran, also has a passion for assisting service members in their home search, and has successful multi-year production relationships with VA-specialized lenders. Carlos also serves his community with 5 years on the Board of Directors of Interfaith Emergency Services (IES), assisting the Ocala/Marion County homeless and underprivileged populations. Carlos has served IES with a 2019 term as Finance Committee Chair, Program Head for Food 4 Kids backpack program and a 2020 term as President of the Board of Directors and Endowment Committee Chair.
